Phillip Services
was looking for a way to increase productivity, reliably feed a
scrap bailer and lower their operating costs. Several material handling
cranes were reviewed but when the decision was taken, the E-Crane
was selected.
Installed in
1989, the Model 4248 E-Crane stands on a freestanding pedestal,
has 81 feet of outreach and handles 6 UStons in Duty Cycle Operation.
The crane has over 24,000 hours of operation in the "tough environment"
of scrap handling. The crane's principal functions are to feed a
bailer, stockpile and sort scrap and load out bails.
According to
Joe Giacoboni, the Maintenance Supervisor, "The E-Crane is
the most reliable piece of equipment we have ever owned, this is
a super crane." The original swing bearing / bull gear is in place
still giving great service. Satinder (Sat) Vig, the General Manager
recently stated : " You (E-Crane) are the best !"
