The Cargill facility
in Savage Minnesota needed to improve the productivity and volume
of their barge offloading operation. For years,
the conventional cable crane and rope operated bucket was used at
the "Port Cargill" facility - but increasing repair costs and poor
reliability made it clear that a change was needed.
Mr. Ricky Carlson,
North American Operations and Engineering Manager for Cargill, explained,
"the E-Crane is a key piece of equipment
in the upgrade of the Port Cargill facility. This crane combined
with an upgrade in the hopper and conveyors substantially improves
the
productivity of Port Cargill." The E-Crane at Port Cargill
was commissioned in September 2000 and is mounted on a freestanding
pedestal
with 81 feet of outreach.
Ms. Lisa Brickey, Terminal Superintendent
said, "The E-Crane design is perfect for an operation such
as ours. Its efficient operation
is a major step to increasing our volume."
