The crane was engineered
specifically for the Beelman facility and is mounted on a
4-legged pedestal directly to 4 piles. The receiving hopper
is barge mounted and captive between dolphins. This design
allows for a full range of river levels without effecting
the unloading cycle time.
Although the complete
facility and infrastructure at the Venice facility is not
complete - "The E-Crane is working every day offloading
direct to trucks - and even with 5 trucks making round trips
- the crane is outpacing them." The operator who is
new to operating heavy equipment, has become very productive
with the new E-Crane. It is not uncommon for him to offload
a full 1800 ton barge, including clean-up, in less than 2
hours with only three months experience. According to Jason,
"the machine is great! Very comfortable to operate."
The Stevedores
reported "The E-Crane does a great job at the bottom,
leaving little material in the barge making clean-up quick
and simple." "The powered rotator on the grab makes cleaning
the corners quick."
