Special visitor in Zeebrugge — Belgium

At this moment there is a special visitor in the port of Zeebrugge (B). The "Mama Mobokoli" is a special pontoon with a very large crane on it. The pontoon/crane are special built for the handling of bulk carriers with a max. tonnage of 25-30.000 tons. The pontoon is a second hand (built in 1981) but the crane is brand new and is installed on the pontoon in Zeebrugge by E-Crane.

The final destination is the port of Matadi in Congo (Africa). There the pontoon will be used for discharging bulk carriers loaded with flour. The voyage to Matadi will take about 40 days. The name "Mama Mobokoli" is lingala, one of the official languages in Congo, and means "careful mother".

Some facts and figures:

• lifting capacity: 13,5 tons
• lifting height: till 35 meter above water level
• beam of the arm: 35,9 meter
